The Texas State Capitol is located in Austin, Texas. It is the fourth building in Austin to serve as the seat of Texas government. It houses the chambers of the Texas State Legislature and the office of the Governor of Texas. Originally designed by Elijah E. Myers, it was constructed between 1882-1888 under the direction of Lindsay Walker. An underground extension was completed in 1993. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and recognized as a National Historic Landmark in 1986. Although popularly believed to be the tallest capitol building in the U. S., the Louisiana State Capitol building is taller by 142 feet.

Construction of the Italian Renaissance Revival capitol building was funded through an article in the state constitution, adopted February 15, 1876, which authorized the sale of public lands for the purpose. The builders of the capitol were paid with over three million acres (12,000 km²) of public land in the Texas panhandle; this tract later became the largest cattle ranch in the world, the XIT Ranch. The value of the land, combined with out-of-pocket expenses, added to a total cost of $3.7 million for the original building. It was largely constructed by convicts or migrant workers, up to 1,000 at a time. The building has been renovated many times.

The cornerstone for the building was laid on March 2, 1885, Texas Independence Day, and the completed building was opened to the public on April 21, 1888, San Jacinto Day. The building was originally planned to be constructed entirely of limestone. However, the limestone was found to have a high iron content after it began to discolor. Hearing of the problem, the owners of Granite Mountain near Marble Falls offered to donate to the state, free of charge, the necessary amount of pink granite as an alternative. Pink granite was subsequently used in many state government buildings in the Austin area.

The capitol rotunda, found under the domed roof, features portraits of every person who has served as president of the Republic of Texas or governor of the state of Texas. The south foyer features sculptures of Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin made by Elisabeth Ney. The rotunda also acts as a whispering gallery. The capitol has 360,000 square feet of floor space, more than any other state capitol building, and sits on 2 acres of land. The building has nearly 400 rooms and over 900 windows.

The Texas State Capitol was ranked 92 in the "America's Favorite Architecture" poll commissioned by the American Institute of Architects, that ranked the top 150 favorite architectural projects in America as of 2007.

The United States Capitol serves as the seat of government for the United States Congress, the legislative branch of the U. S. federal government. It is located in Washington, D. C., on top of Capitol Hill at the eastern end of the National Mall.

In 2007, it was ranked sixth on the List of America's Favorite Architecture by the American Institute of Architects.

The building was originally designed by William Thornton. This plan was subsequently modified by Stephen Hallet, Benjamin Latrobe and then Charles Bulfinch. The current dome and the House and Senate wings were designed by Thomas U. Walter and August Schoenborn, a German immigrant, and were completed under the supervision of Edward Clark.

The building is marked by its central dome above a rotunda and two wings, one for each chamber of Congress: the north wing is the Senate chamber and the south wing is the House of Representatives chamber. Above these chambers are galleries where visitors can watch the Senate and House of Representatives. It is an example of the Neoclassical architecture style. The statue on top of the dome is the Statue of Freedom.

Underground tunnels (and even a private underground railway) connect the main Capitol building with each of the Congressional office buildings in the surrounding complex. Additionally, all addresses in Washington, D. C. are designated NE, NW, SE or SW, in relationship to the Rotunda.

The original Height of Buildings Act, passed by Congress in 1899 in response to the construction of the Cairo Hotel, limited buildings to the height of the United States Capitol Building, which rises to 289 feet. The Capitol building is currently the fifth tallest structure in Washington, D. C. What conclusions can you draw from this information? Write your conclusions on the following lines.

Will anyone be able to check for grammatical errors and give an opinion on the essay itself? write about the following topic: some people believe that allowing children to make their own cholces on everyday matters (such as food, clothes and entertainment) is likely to result in a society of individuals who only think about their own wishes. other people believe that it is important for children to make decisions about matters that affect them. discuss both these views and give your own opinion. —— nowadays, in this busy and fast developing world teaching children from an early age to cope with their own decisions (such as food, clothes etc.) and then take the coincidences after that is something that a lot of people believe that it is important for them. on the other hand other people think that it might end up in a society of humans who put their wishes before anyone else's. but which one of these views will predominate? firstly, the people who allow their children to make their own decisions are the people who everyone should look up to. it is important to let your children learn from the mistakes their make. the parents can not be with them all the time every day and for that reason, teaching them to deal with their decisons or even problems will them in the future. of course, there are always disadvantages such as some people may really forget about that their children will need them at a certain point in life and may loose connection whit them. but that is why it should have that moderately path, where kids will make their own decisions but will feel comfortable to always ask for a advice tueur parents. on the other hand, there are and the second type of parents which think that too much individualism is not good. it really depends on the parents how they will teach their children to carry on with the independence they have. a lot of them might forget that they are still kids and will need and advices from time to time and because of that the parents turn their kids in individuals who only think about their own wishes due to the fact that they are let on their own and have to cope with everyone and everything by themselves. in conclusion, i think that the best decision someone can make is to look up to the first type of parents. that way they will be able to train their children to become independent people who will respect the wishes of others and they will be able to cope with their decisions in the future when they need it.
