II. How is “Look Back in Anger” a commentary on the contemporary social event in Europe?

The theme of “Look back in anger” is isolation which is applicable to today’s world as it was, in contemporary England in the 20th century.  

Europe saw a fall after the end of the war and gave hopes of a new age where social stratification will no longer be prevalent.

But in reality this did not occur as stratification and opportunity denial were still present.

it creates a visual picture of the man.

it conveys what the scene sounds like.

it describes the actions of the boy.

it reveals the poet’s opinion of the characters.

it encourages readers to care for the characters.
