What do you think the different parts of Omelas (setting, townspeople, flute player, etc) represent? How do these reveal the meaning and theme of the story?

I think, Omelas is not a perfect city as represented in the story.

In the story, Omela is described as a perfect city. The city is beautiful because it has mountains and the sea. People enjoy there by having summer festivals with funfilled activities. The impression of story was that people consider it as a perfect city with a perfect life. However, in reality, it is not as perfect because the people are poor and lived there without any privileges. Also, people are not attracted to music (flute) because they live in a stressed environment and cannot enjoy the music as they should.

in   ¨and yet the books¨   by czelaw miloz the tone is positive since it tells us that when we touch a book, it starts to live and the perspective is in the third person and turns once into the first person. in "the rhinoceros" by eugene ionesco the tone is illogical and absurd   and the perspective is in the third person since it is a play.
