He helped his mother run a bakery, one of his jobs was decorating the cakes which he was really good at. So one of Peeta's talents was painting, he was able to use the elements (example: mud, leaves, water,and grass) on himself and camouflage himself so well that he practically became invisible. So after his fight with Cato he camouflaged himself and stayed hidden until Katniss found him.
