The underground rail road was a secret mission of routes and used as safe havens used by slaves. These places were the hiding place for individuals who were slaves and wanted to get away from the clutches of slavery.These slaves belonged elsewhere but moved to southern states and Canada where they considered themselves to be safe and secure from any kind of harm or violence. There were other sections or classes of people who were popularly called abolitionists who facilitated their safe stay at some safe place. They would assist them in hiding themselves unless they reached a safer place along the route. The then US administration had to enact new legislation to curb this movement - subsequently, the then Government came up with the Fugitive Slave Act , 1850 to overcome the ct of the disappearance of slaves and eventually eliminate the Under Ground Rail Road movement.On the contrary, this underground rail road movement finally came to an end after the elimination of slavery during the civil war. The end to slavery raised new hopes for people who were engulfed in this menace and wee desperately looking for an outlet.
