I would be very surprised to find out there is a set rule for the amount of text in any given slide show. To start with, due to the fact that there is a wide variety of topics, there has to be also a wide variety of words necessary to explain a given slide. Then there are slides who speak for themselves and those who don´t. I do agree that the number of words should be kept to a minimum... like this answer.
