Why does Beowulf put aside his weapons and armor?Beowulf's weapons have been cursed by a divine power. Beowulf's men ask him to fight with his bare hands. Grendel fights without weapons, so Beowulf chooses to do the same. Beowulf knows his weapons are of inferior quality, and he fears they will break.
