answer:
Story #1
Carla was a lazy girl. She didn't want anything to do with homework, or anything that would take up time. Little did she know that her laziness would change forever.
"Mom, I'm going to watch TV!"
"Did you do your homework?"
"Um, yeah. Did it at school."
"Okay then."
"Yes!"
She was preparing to turn the TV on when her mom shouted to her, "Carla, come here."
Carla ran into the dining room. There, her mother was holding her unfinished homework assignment. Her heart pounded, oh how it pounded!
"Explain this. I thought you finished your homework at school young lady."
"Oh, that. I got an extra copy."
"I don't believe you. If you think you can get away with it, you're wrong. You are going to explain t your teacher tomorrow why you didn't do your homework. I'm going to rip this up and you have to write out every single problem and solve them. Without the computer or a calculator, got it?"
Carla could only nod. She didn't want to write, she wanted to watch TV. Explaining to her teacher would be the worst since she didn't want to embarrass herself in front of her whole class.
From that point on, Carla always did her work.
Story #2
Samantha loved to do her homework. She liked to finish it so that she could play later on.
As usual, when Samantha got home, she took out a pencil, eraser, and her homework and started working. She worked on them for an hour. When she had finished, her sister Carla and her mom had gotten home.
"Sam, are you done with your homework already?'
"Yeah, are you?"
"Um, totally."
"Okay."
Her mom complimented her on how she was more focused than Carla.
"Mom, I'm done with my homework. May I go play with Betty? I promised her I would if I was done with my homework."
"Oh of course Sam. How can I punish you if you work so hard? Go and play with Betty. As for your sister, I'm going to have to punish her."
Sam strolled away and walked to Betty's house. One sister was rewarded for doing her homework and telling the truth, while another sister was punished for lying and not doing her homework.
