How are scannable resumés different from other kinds?

With regard to content, scannable resumes are almost identical with the exception of the inclusion of some keywords what will help a database search identify you/your resume as a potential candidate. The largest difference comes in formatting. In a scannable resume, you should have no formatting because formatting will prevent the resume from being accurately scanned, and key information may be missed. Just keep everything flush with the left margin. Additionally, fancy fonts may prevent the optical reader from reading information. Keep things simple, too, in that regard.
