1. before you write, be sure to review the assignment guidelines on pp. 460β463 in pathways.
2. refer to the strategies on pp. 356β360 in the essential guide to language, writing, & literature as you work through the stages of the writing process. take note of the specific tips for drafting
the introduction, body, and conclusion. although the student model addresses a different topic from the one you were assigned, you may find this model useful as an example of an expository, or
informational, essay.
3. working from the prewriting you completed earlier, write, revise, and edit an informational essay of 2β3 pages. although you will revisit this essay later in the unit, use the revising and editing
checklists on pp. 462β463 in pathways to you as you work on your draft.
