As in the passage Abraham Lincoln know that people are going to be dead on a large scale and many innocent lives will be gone after the civil war, but he tries to assure people that their lost lives will not go in vain, it's going to make society a better place to live and people will always remember their sacrifice.

Back then the northern men were fighting for their rights, Abraham Lincoln the 16th president of us led the war to preserve union and abolish slavery and strengthen the government. At last the thirteenth amendment of us outlawed slavery and of course the sacrifices were not in vain. It was addressed by him in 1863 and it was spoken to people of North for their support and loyalty towards the war. He's also known as the martyr hero for this achievement and one of the important person in modernizing united States economy
