Slippery fallacies aren’t reliable, and will not convince an audience you are correct or that they should believe you. Attacking the other argument may help, but all you may be proving is that the other opinion is wrong. In some cases where there are many more than two opinions, people will make their own, as you have not given proof of your opinion, only that the other is wrong. Additionally, attacking the other argument may not always be successful.
