Your task: begin working on your narrative task for rewriting the ending to "the scarlet ibis."
you will focus on the following for your alternate ending to "the scarlet ibis":
• point of view - pick a character's point of view to write from
• characterization - make sure you "describe" your character (it can be direct or indirect)
• conflict - conflict can be resolved in a different way, but it must be presented
setting - make sure you include elements of setting, whether you change them up a little (not too much) or you keep
them the same setting as written in the story
you will pick a character's viewpoint to write from and retell the story from that character's viewpoint. feel free to
adjust the ending as you see fit. you will start your story right before doodle and the narrator go into the woods
(paragraph 37). paragraph 37 should be your first paragraph--you will start off from this point.
[paragraph 37: "as soon as i had finished eating, doodle and i hurried off to horsehead landing. it was time for a
swimming lesson, but doodle said he was too tired. when we reached horsehead landing, lightning was flashing across
half the sky, and thunder was drowning out the sound of the sea."]
