How is the narrator’s point of view towards the tree different from their parents’ point of view in the story auntumntime

The narrator in this story is a kid who believes that the tree was still alive and fresh with all it's charm. Although the tree was protected by a fence but the narrator wanted to touch it to feel the freshness.
