choose a topic suitable for an informal essay. remember that an informal essay is meant to entertain. the topic, therefore, should be personal, drawn from your own observations or experiences, and not too serious. brainstorm your ideas on paper or with a friend. jot down the things you think are funny about yourself, your family, your pets, your school, your friends, your church, and so forth. remember to be kind in your humor; it is not funny to destroy someone's self-confidence or to put them down. as you work, you will find yourself more interested in some topics than others, and these will be the ones about which you can generate the most ideas. remember, you may choose to discuss a topic as in "every dog should own a man" or to relate an anecdote as in "my financial career." next, group your ideas and place them in an order that makes sense to you. write a simple list of your points in the order you wish to discuss them. since the writing style for an informal essay should be natural-sounding, friendly, and open, making an informal list seems to work better for this style of writing than a tightly-organized formal outline. if you can, take a humorous approach in your essay. don't expect this early effort to be the funniest thing you've ever heard. just relax and have fun with it.

being judged by your physical appearance, gender, age or race has been a problem for many people around the world. we all have experienced segregation or rejection at some moment in our life. i   am not the exception. i am an overweight latin girl, two characteristics that do not me very much in a bullying society. i am an excellent student, speak beside my native language – spanish, english and i am currently studying portuguese. once there was a job opening for an international company. i was the perfect candidate for the position. i fulfilled all the requirements to get the job. yes, because of my   curriculum i was called for an interview. the same day, other candidates were appointed too.   i simply said to myself: this is for you, no one else is as prepared as you are, besides, you are smart, honest, responsible and reliable.

the recruiter called me, it was a middle age man, demanding looking one. as soon as he saw me entering the room he looked at me and said: “i am sorry, you are not the type of person we are looking for. it is for the reception and we need someone with different physical appearance”  

i felt like if a train had run over me. i felt miserable. he didn´t even asked me a question nor check on my skills! a pretty face and a perfect body was just as perfect for the position.
