After reading this passage -and only this passage- the reader can infer that the boy realizes he is too young to be doing that kind of work that requires a lot of physical strength. He realizes he shouldn't be doing that because he is still young and that is a man's work, or someone stronger than him who is just a boy. As the passage says, "he was old enough to know", to realize, that he was doing something that was not right at his age.

By reading this excerpt we can't infer anything about his parents being angry, we don't know how they are or what they will feel about this situation, we don't read anything about which time of day it is, nor if he is hungry and we definitely don't know anything about an injury, so the correct answer must be the second one.

the illustration   that would give a reader a clear understanding of the text is a picture of men constructing the frame of a building.the frame is made of iron bars. the text describes the job of blacksmiths'. these were very organised and they had different names: "the driver" and "the heater". the text describes the way in which these men worked ; they worked iron pieces as if they were playing a sport. in fact, the text wants to show the men's skills. the text also puts some emphasis on the use of '' rivets'' in construction. this kind of nails were not always used in the construction of manhattan.
