Stability cannot be called happiness merely because it makes people satisfied, especially if such satisfaction means not knowing of other possibilities, other choices to be made.

Not being satisfied is, actually, what brings change and evolution. If that is taken away from people, they become fleshy robots who will take any input, who will buy what they're told, go where they're told, do what they're told. If satisfaction becomes a synonym for inertia, it means nothing at all.
