Explain the three types of verbals, including their construction and the roles they play in writing.

The three types of verbals are infinitives (to + verb) gerunds (verb+ing) and participles (verb+ed,d,t,en,n/ verb+ing)

Infinitives can be used as different parts of the sentence in writing for example:

* Subject

(e.g. To exercise every day is my new year's goal)

* Direct Object

(e.g. I love to listen to music)

* Subject Complement

(e.g. My biggest mistake was to be so stubborn)

* Adjective

(e.g. This is the best time of the year to harvest)  

* Adverb

(e.g. I went to mass to pray)

Gerunds can be used as different parts of the sentence in writing for example:

* Subject

(e.g. Exercising every day is my new year's goal)

* Direct Object

(e.g. I love listening to music)

* Subject Complement.

(e.g. My biggest mistake was being so stubborn)

* Object of a preposition.

(e.g. I'm very good at dancing)

Participles can be used as different parts of the sentence in writing for example:

* Adjectives.

(e.g. The movie was amazing / I was amazed by the movie)  

* Action verbs when they are used together with to be or to have.

(e.g.  I have amazed people all my life)
