sometimes " science fiction " and " fantasy " but the major difference between the two genres is that in works of " fantasy " the author does not necessarily sets the action in the and does not try to give explanations of magic .
the lord of the rings by harry potter by j. k rowling are both very well-known "fantasy " .
however they do not have exactly the same characteristics : while the lord of the rings belongs to epic fantasy , harry potter belongs to or contemporary fantasy . the reason for this is that in harry potter the world of magic is inside the real world .
