The underground railroad by colson whitehead how does the curse of ham justify enslavement of africans? -in genesis, ham was an evil and wicked son whose own father cursed him. -noah refused to let ham and his descendants on to the ark. -the bible says the noah cursed canaan as a slave to his uncle's children. -after committing terrible acts, ham and his descendants escaped to africa and god commanded that they should become slaves.
