Describe one movie, one song, and one commercial that uses figurative language

Figurative language refers to different literary devices to mean something other than the literal meaning of the word.  Some examples of these devices are: metaphors, onomatopoeia, simile, personification etc.  

A movie that uses figurative language is:  "Shreck I".  There is a dialogue between Donkey and Shreck.  Shreck is trying to explain why people hate ogres and he says: "Ogres are like onions". Donkey asks: "Is it because they stink? and Shreck answers: "No it's because they have many layers, they are hard to understand."  The figurative language used is a simile.  A simile compares two things using the words "as" or "like", meaning they are similar.  In this case, Shreck gives ogres the characteristics of an onion, in order to describe them without being literal.  

A song that uses figurative language is: "Gangsta's Paradise" by Coolio.  In this song he uses an allusion.  An allusion is an intentional bur indirect reference to a story, event, object, person or circumstance from another event, object or circumstance, person, story.  In the phrase "Been spending most their lives living in a gangsta's paradise", the song compares the biblical paradise to a "gangster's paradise".  

A commercial that uses figurative language is:  The Rice Krispies Commercial.  The characters are called: Snap, Crackle and Pop.  The figurative language used in this commercial is an onomatopoeia meaning words that imitate sounds.  In this case, the sounds imitated are sounds suggested by the Rice Krispies.
