Correct, Romeo is challenging the authority Tybalt feels he holds and the main complications i see are that Romeo is turning his back to Tybalt and all that he has said, and wants to walk away  rather than starting a physical fight - that of which is against Tybalt's wishes.  Romeo is using strong words of degrading i.e 'i see thou know'st me not' rather than a strong sword fight.  He sees himself now as 'above' Tybalt, hence Tybalt's not 'good enough' for a battle of any sort.  The marriage is the priority of Romeo's mind at this stage of the play/story so no matter what Tybalt tries, Romeo will start to know look down upon him.
