What role does the element of motivation play in performance

Motivation plays  and very extremly important role. If u go do something like playing a football game or basketball game it gives u energy and the spirt to win, but in ur head ur saying we are going to lose we are going to lose over and over again. So try to say in ur head we are going to win over and over till the game is over.
