The genres that have narrative arc are fiction and narrative non-fiction.

The narrative arc or story arc refers to the structure of the story. The story begins with introduction of a character, growth of the story, fall of the character, gaining strength from the fall (climax).

Fiction:

The fiction is a narrative which comprises of imaginary events/world/people. The authors creates the situations, makes the characters undergo certain emotions, gives wide narrative about the effect of those situations, and finally the story ends with the character gaining strength from the fall and living with a new active energy. The fiction can even end differently but the narrative arc is used in most of the fictional plots.

Persuasive Text:

The persuasive text is used to convince a reader about the idea/product/concept. The persuasive text includes advertisement, argument, discussion, or exposition. So, the narrative arc does not influence the persuasive text.

Narrative non-fiction:

The narrative nonfiction or creative nonfiction uses the true events or facts about a person and putting all the events in a story like structure. This uses narrative arc because narrative nonfiction can be based on a person or animal or anything that may have went through a downfall and raised from the lesson learned from that downfall. So, narrative nonfiction uses story arc.

All non-fiction:

The non-fiction is based on the people or the events took place in a certain period of time. This type of writing mostly gives information. In nonfiction, the reader may not experience the story but may get wide information about the character or event. So, the writers will not use narrative arc in non-fictions.
