Genetically modified (gm) foods are those snacks or food we usually eat made from corn, soy, corn, or other plants that are grown from seeds that undergo genetic transformation or enhancement of the dna. this is done to increase yield of the crop, to increase resistance to pests and extreme weather conditions. however, what will happen to people who ingest these genetically modified foods? are these foods safe for human consumption? the answer is certainly ambiguous.the proponents of this technology would not be totally sure about telling us the side effects.studies have shown that allergies, antibiotic resistance, and cancer are only some of the side effects of eating gm foods. although these negative effects are not founded on long term researches yet, the rise in cases of these health issues in the us and around the world are alarming. thus, genetically modified foods are not really purely harmless.

although now people in general debates about the role of gm foods in society; feeding humanity would not be efficiently possible as it is in modern times without "selective breeding" aka "artificial selection", which is the use of genetic engineering to produce gmos.

such approach result hypocritical to certain extent because generally, the same uninformed and illiterate people, tend to accept the use of genetic engineering in medical applications and give them a free pass, but the same thing is treated differently when it comes to agriculture, which makes no rational sense, since humans have been using genetic modification on plants and animals for thousands of years already, especially to enhance the benefits of a particular species, and because everything humans eat now, has been genetically modified in some manner to get to the point it is today; so people is probably just fearful of the term gmos and this doesn't much in the discussion regarding sustainable agriculture.
