The spherical tank (diameter = 5m) resting on the ground as shown in Figure 3 is constructed from two semi-spheres, each with a weight of 30 kN. The lower half is filled with water and the upper
half with an unknown fluid (Fluid 1). The pressure, P1, as measured by the gauge on the top of the
tank as indicated in Figure 3, is 15 kPa (gauge). The 4cm-diameter vertical pipe connected and open
to the tank is 5m long and is also filled by the unknown fluid and is open to atmosphere. There are
8 bolts holding the two halves together.
