This is a project you can do if you have a bike pump or a syringe (no needle!). When the pump handle is fully-extended, the cylinder of a hand-held bike pump has a volume of 2.0 in^3 . If a person holds their thumb over the exit hole (no needles!) and push on the pump handle to compress the air you can increase the pressure in the cylinder. Let us presume that a pressure of 45 lbf/in^2. Atmospheric pressure is 14.7 psi and the outside temperature is 100 degF.

a. Determine the final volume and the final temperature of the gas if the process is done slowly (about 1 hour)
b. Determine the final volume and the final temperature of the gas if the process is done quickly (about 1 second)
c. Be certain to identify and list any assumptions that are needed to answer these questions
