Engineering cost-benefit analysis shares many similarities with utilitarianism theory; accordingly, it is a common ethical analysis tool. For ethical problem-solving, it is best to apply all of the theories rather than one specific theory. When different theories conflict in outcomes, utilitarianism considerations should take precedence over those resulting from rights/duty ethics. The theories are very different; accordingly, applying them all to a situation will tend to lead to different outcomes.
