Water flows through a horizontal pipe. The pipe consists of two sections of diameters 0.5 m and 0.25 m with a smooth reducing section. The velocity at the upstream section is 2 m/s and velocity at the downstream section is 8 m/s. The pressure difference between the two pipe sections is measured by a mercury manometer. Determine the differential height of mercury between the two pipe sections. Neglect frictional effects.
