A lagoon with a volume of 1200 m3 has been receiving a steady flow Q = 100 m3/day of a non-conservative pollutant with a reaction rate constant k1 = 0.2 day-1 for a long enough time to assume that steady state conditions apply (there is an effluent stream flowing out that needs to satisfy steady state conditions). The waste entering the lagoon has a concentration of 10 mg/L. Assuming complete mixing conditions, what would the concentration of the pollutant be in the effluent leaving the lagoon?
