Tamoxifen is administered in tablet form. Its manufacture starts by mixing two streams. The first stream contains tamoxifen powder (tam), corn starch (cs) and lactose (lac) in water. The second stream contains PVP solids also suspended in water. The water coming in from the PVP line constitutes 75% of the total water entering the mixer. After mixing, the slurry enters a dryer in which 94.2% of the total water fed to the mixer is evaporated. The wet powder leaving the dryer contains 9.8 wt% tamoxifen, 66.8% lac, 21.4% cs and equal parts of water and PVP. The wet powder is then compressed into tablets. To produce one hundred thousand tablets, 17 kg of wet powder is required. A. Draw and completely label the process flow diagram.
B. Calculate the mass flow rates of each component in all streams.
C. Calculate the mass of tamoxifen powder you need to make 17,500 tablets.

Amass of m 1.5 kg of steam is contained in a closed rigid container. initially the pressure and temperature of the steam are: p 1.5 mpa and t 240°c (superheated state), respectively. then the temperature drops to t2= 100°c as the result of heat transfer to the surroundings. determine: a) quality of the steam at the end of the process, b) heat transfer with the surroundings. for: p1.5 mpa and t 240°c: enthalpy of superheated vapour is 2900 kj/kg, specific volume of superheated vapour is 0. 1483 m/kg, while for t 100°c: enthalpy of saturated liquid water is 419kj/kg, specific volume of saturated liquid water is 0.001043m/kg, enthalpy of saturated vapour is 2676 kj/kg, specific volume of saturated vapour is 1.672 m/kg and pressure is 0.1 mpa.
