Quality has been defined as customer satisfaction and loyalty ( or fitness for use) Quality may also be defined as conformance to specification. In theory, creating the proper specifications and then manufacturing product that conforms to those specifications should lead to customer satisfaction. Alas, life isn’t that simple. Consider these four situations for a product: Conforms to specifications; is competitive on fitness. Conforms to specifications; is not competitive on fitness. Does not conform to specifications; is competitive on fitness. Does not conform to specifications; is not competitive on fitness. Which two of these four situations are theoretically not plausible , but in practice do occur (and cause much confusion and concern) can you site any examples. 1- Conforms to specifications; is competitive on fitness.
2- Conforms to specifications; is not competitive on fitness.
3- Does not conform to specifications; is competitive on fitness.
4- Does not conform to specifications; is not competitive on fitness.
Which two of these four situations are theoretically not plausible, but in practice do occur (and cause much confusion and concern) can you site any examples in respect to Engineering or Project Management.
