One excellent way to get involved with a construction project as you are learning is to volunteer. With instructor and parent permission research volunteer opportunities with a charitable organization involved in construction, such as Habitat for Humanity. Write a short essay of no more than three pages concerning your findings. In your essay, consider some of the following questions and do your best to answer some of them for your reader. What opportunities exist for someone with your skill set? Among the opportunities that exist, what roles could you play? Are any of the possible volunteer roles among the design and pre-construction stakeholder roles you learned about? Are they supportive of any of those roles? Would you be able to work with professionals in any design or pre-construction roles as a volunteer based on your research? Do you think the organization uses these kinds of professionals? If not, why not? If so, in what capacity?
