Over a one foot long section, a W 16 x 77 is subjected to moments: MLEFT = 225 k-ft and MRIGHT = 300 k-ft. Both moments are positive. Required:
a. Calculate the shear force on each side. Show direction and indicate if the shear force is positive or negative.
b. Using the stress wedge, find the shear FORCE between the top flange and the web. Treat the top flange as a rectangle and ignore any fillets.
c. Recalculate using the shear stress formula VQ/It.
