Consider production of power by an adiabatic gas turbine. Air enters the turbine at 1200 kPa and 550ºC through a 0.1 m2 opening with an average velocity of 40 m/s. The air leaves the turbine at 120 kPa and 150ºC through a 0.950 m2 opening. Assume that air is an ideal gas with constant heat capacity and that the process is at steady-state, in other words, do not use the property tables for air in the back of the book. (a) Determine the mass flow rate of the air through the turbine, in kg/s.
(b) Determine the power produced by the turbine, in kW.
