Consider a long plastic rod (rho=1000 kg/m3 Cp=1.040 kJkgK, k=0.3 W/m·K) of diameter 30 mm that is heated uniformly in an oven to Ti and then allowed to convectively cool in ambient air (T[infinity]=25°C, h=8 W/m2·K) for a four minute period. If the minimum temperature of rod cannot be less than 170°C, to what temperature should the rod be heated to? In addition, the maximum-minimum temperature difference within the rod should not exceed 10°C. Is this condition met? Please DO NOT interpolate, use closest values in tables if tables are used.

Asingle-geared blanking press has a stroke of 200 mm and a rated capacity of 320 kn. a cam driven ram is assumed to be capable of delivering the full press load at constant force during the last 15 percent of a constant-velocity stroke. the camshaft has an average speed of 90 rev/min and is geared to the flywheel shaft at a 6: 1 ratio. the total work done is to include an allowance of 16 percent for friction a) estimate the maximum energy fluctuation b) find the rim weight for an effective diameter of 1.2 m and a coefficient of speed fluctuation of 0.10

An open feedwater heater operates at steady state with liquid entering at inlet 1 with t? = 40°c and pl = 1 .2 mpa. water vapor att2-200°c and p2 = 1.2 mpa enters at inlet 2. saturated liquid water exits with a pressure of pa 1.2 mpa. neglect heat transfer with the surroundings and all kinetic and potential energy effects, determine the mass flow rate of steam at inlet 2 if the mass flow rate of liquid water at inlet 1 is given as 2 kg/s.
