The coating on a 1m x 2m surface is cured by placing it 0.5m below an electrically heated surface of the same dimensions and the assembly is exposed to large surroundings at 300 K. The heater is well insulated on its top side and is aligned with the coated surface. The heater surface has an emissivity of 0.8 and the coating surface has an emissivity of 0.5. During the curing procedure, the heater and coating surfaces are maintained at 700 and 400 K, respectively. Convection effects may be neglected.
Draw the radiation thermal circuit and calculate the electric power, Wel, required to operate the heater.
