Boiling-Point Elevation Upon solution formation, there is a boiling point elevation which is proportional to the total concentration of solute particles. The increase in boiling point is represented by the following equation:

ΔTb = iKb m

ΔTb is the increase in temperature (in Celsius or Kelvin)
ΔTb= (boiling point of the solution - boiling point of pure solvent)

i is the van't Hoff factor, the number of fragments that a solute breaks up into for a particular solvent. Kb is a molal boiling-point-elevation constant characteristic of the solvent.
For water, Kb = 0.52 C/m m is the molality of the solute.

Part A - Consider the solutions represented by the three molecular-level representations. Rank these solutions in order of decreasing boiling point.
Part B - Explain your answer in terms of total concentration of solute particles.
