Consider a random, information bearing, binary sequence of rectangular polar formatted symbols. Assume that the pulse stream has an equal number of both types of symbols. The magnitudes of these symbols are one volt and they are measured across a 50 ohm resistor. The fundamental pulse rate is one times symbol per second.

A) Calculate the average power in the above described signal using time domain techniques and principles of electrical engineering.

B) Write the mathematical expression for obtaining the power spectral density (psd) and find the result for the psd. Find the total power in the psd and compare it to the result in A) (hint…you will need integral tables from a mathematics handbook or similar source).

C) Plot the psd and determine how suppressed the peak of the first side lobe is relative to the peak psd, in dB. At what frequency does the first spectral null occur?

D) Describe how to obtain a Nyquist pulse shaped sequence with a rolloff factor=1 from the rectangular sequence and draw a block diagram of your proposed apparatus.

E) Plot the psd of the pulse shaped sequence from part D) of this problem… assume a 50 ohm load

F) Find the average power in the sequence using frequency domain techniques.

Amass of m 1.5 kg of steam is contained in a closed rigid container. initially the pressure and temperature of the steam are: p 1.5 mpa and t 240°c (superheated state), respectively. then the temperature drops to t2= 100°c as the result of heat transfer to the surroundings. determine: a) quality of the steam at the end of the process, b) heat transfer with the surroundings. for: p1.5 mpa and t 240°c: enthalpy of superheated vapour is 2900 kj/kg, specific volume of superheated vapour is 0. 1483 m/kg, while for t 100°c: enthalpy of saturated liquid water is 419kj/kg, specific volume of saturated liquid water is 0.001043m/kg, enthalpy of saturated vapour is 2676 kj/kg, specific volume of saturated vapour is 1.672 m/kg and pressure is 0.1 mpa.
