A square silicon chip would be damaged if its surface temperature exceeds 50C. A cooling fan blows air at 20C over the chip. This causes forced convection heat transfer. Convection heat transfer coefficient is calculated to be 100 W/m²K (you will learn how to calculate this coefficient in Heat Transfer course, ME3710). The chip needs an electrical input power of 0.2 W to operate. Assuming steady state, design the geometry of this chip to prevent any damage. Note that minimizing the dimensions is always an objective of engineering designs, as it reduces costs and occupied space.
