An ordinary egg can be approximated as a 5.5-cmdiameter sphere whose properties are roughly k 5 0.6 W/m·K and a 5 0.14 3 1026 m2/s. The egg is initially at a uniform temperature of 8°C and is dropped into boiling water at 97°C. Taking the convection heat transfer coefficient to be h 5 1400 W/m2·K, determine how long it will take for the center of the egg to reach 70°C. Solve this problem using analytical one-term approximation method (not the Heisler charts).

Water in a partially filled large tank is to be supplied to the roof top, which is 8 m above the water level in the tank, through a 2.2-cm-internal-diameter pipe by maintaining a constant air pressure of 300 kpa (gage) in the tank. if the head loss in the piping is 2 m of water, determine the discharge rate of the supply of water to the roof top in liters per second.
