Consider two flat circular plates (6 inch diameter), with honey filling a 0.05 inch gap between them. if it takes 1 lbf to start sliding the plates apart at 0.25 inches/sec, what is the viscosity of the honey? how does this value compare to published values of the viscosity of honey? how much power does it take to move the plate? (short answer format is ok for this part) if one of the plates was supported on edge, vertically, the other plate would start to slip down. how light would the free plate have to be for the plates to stick together indefinitely? yes, this is a bit of a trick question.

Asolid cylinder is concentric with a straight pipe. the cylinder is 0.5 m long and has an outside diameter of 8 cm. the pipe has an inside diameter of 8.5 cm. the annulus between the cylinder ad the pipe contains stationary oil. the oil has a specific gravity of 0.92 and a kinematic viscosity of 5.57 x 10-4 m2/s. most nearly, what is the force needed to move the cylinder along the pipe at a constant velocity of 1 m/s?
