Experimental measurements of the convection heat transfer coefficient for a square bar in cross flow yielded the following values. the two experimental values were both found for air with a constant prandlt number. h_1 = 50w/m^2 middot k when v_1 = 20m/s h_2 = 40w/m^2 middot k when v_2 = 15 m/s assume that the functional form of the nusselt number is nu = cre^m pr^n where c, m, and n are all constants. do not use the values from chapter 7, they would like you derive a relationship. a) use the definition of the nusselt number and the definition of the reynolds number to determine what parameters are constant for the two experiments, and what parameters will change. substitute these definitions into the nusselt correlation given (you probably want to look at a ratio of nu_1/nu_2 and develop a simplified form of the correlation. solve for the numerical value of constant m based on the experimental data given. b) use your simplified relationship to determine the convection heat transfer for a similar bar with l = 1 when v = 15m/s. c) use your simplified relationship to determine the convection heat transfer for a similar bar with l = 1 when v = 30m/s. d) would your results change if the length of the bar was used for l rather than the diagonal as shown?

Refrigerant-134a enters the compressor of a refrigerator as superheated vapor at 0.14 mpa and -10°c at a rate of 0.05 ka/s and leaves at 0.8 mpa and 50°c. the refrigerant is cooied in the condenser to 0.72 mpa and 26'c. it is then throttled to 0.15 mpa. sketch the t-s diagram for the system and evaluate: 6) the rate of heat removai from the refrigerated space (kw), it) the power input to the compressor (kw), ii) the isentropic efficiency of the compressor (%), and iv) the cop of the refrigerator.
