What are the major types of computer software used in business and the major software trends?

Every day, we come across different types of computer software that helps us with our tasks and increase our efficiency. From MS Windows that greets us when we switch on the system to the web browser that is used to surf the internet or the games that we play on our computer to the calorie burn counter on our smartphone, are all examples of software. In this world of technology, we even come across various software development trends that help our business to grow, we are surrounded by all these software which are determined to make our lives easier. By definition, a Software (also abbreviated as an SW or S/W) is a collection of data, programs, procedures, instructions, and documentation that perform various predefined tasks on a computer system. They enable users to interact with the computer.

System Software

Systems software are programs that manage the resources of the computer system and simplify applications programming. They include software such as the operating system, database management systems, networking software, translators, and software utilities.

Application Software

Application software are programs that direct the performance of a particular use, or application, of computers to meet the information processing needs of end users. They include [email protected] software such as word processing and spreadsheet packages, as well as internally or externally developed software that is designed to meet the specific needs of an organization.

Software trends have been away from custom-designed one-of-kind programs developed by the professional programmers or end users of an organization toward the use of [email protected] software packages acquired by end users from software vendors.

Two types of packages are available:

1. Vertical packages - assist users within a specific industry segment. Examples include packages that help to manage construction projects, keep track of inventory of hospitals, or fast-food outlets.

2. Horizontal packages - can perform a certain general function, such as accounting, or office automation, for a range of businesses.

we can all learn from our past mistakes because we all have different ways of learning different types of techniques. my way may or may not another classmate remember and have the repetition to acknowledge such standard. such as remembering acronyms. using abbreviations to us remember keep things in order in our memory. this us figure out what comes next in the sequence. if so, what we have is a sentence of just letters all in caps. we either know the meaning or have no idea what it stands for. most of the time we know the meaning and context. but most of us who don't know, should learn by having a quick glance at what needs to be remembered. such as repetition in the memory for acronyms. one way that me, is the fact that i'm always doing math and english assignments. so we have to remember specific meanings such as soapstone for documents, such as citing correctly. or pemdas for doing the equations correctly, even if it's the super long way. this works for everyone. you just have to find what works for you by practicing and repetition daily.
