1. Your case is on the US Long-Distance Running Association. A competitive long-distance runner may run many races during the year. Each race has multiple runners and is identified by the combination of a name (ex: Peach tree Road Race), a length (ex: 5km, 10km, 21km, 42km), and a date. For each race that occurs, there is a need to capture the time and position of all of the runners. A runner may only be part of one running club. Whereas each runner is permanently identified by a unique number provided by the ALDRA, a club is identified by a name (ex: The Atlanta Track Club), and has a phone number and a date of foundation.
Create the ERD for the case above using MySQL workbench. YOu must include all entities, attributes, data types and relationships. The relationships must be expressed in crows feet notation (at least for maximum cardinality). Once you have completed the ERD save your workbench project file (mwb file ONLY) and upload it to the D2L midterm exam (part 2) as an attachment.
2. For the US Long-Distance Running Association case above, you must generate the DDL file. This file must contain create table statements for all of the tables in your ERD. It should include all columns, data types, nullable constraints, primary key and foreign key constraints. YOu can use MySQL workbench in forward engineering mode to generate these scripts, or you will have to create the DDL commands and save them in a text file. When you have completed the DDL and saved the file.
3. For the US Long-Distance Running Association case above, you must generate the DML file. This file must contain 3 INSERT statements for each of the entity/tables found in your ERD. If you used the forward engineering mode of MySQL workbench, you should have all of the tables located in your MySQL database. If so, you can enter the 3 rows in the database editor and save them. After savintg, export the 3 INSERT statements to a DML file. You must repeat this process for all of your tables - consolidating them into a single DML file. If you did not use forward engineering, you will have to type in the 3 INSERT statements for each table into a text file. When you have completed the DML and saved the file.
