In the original Huevos workload, FP ALU instructions make up 80% of the workload. The remaining 20% of the workload are Int ALU instructions, split so that 4% of the original instructions are control instructions. Non-control Int ALU instructions make up the remaining 16% of the workload. Suppose that we modify the Huevos architecture further so that FP ALU instructions take 7 clock cycles (cc); control instructions take 4 cc, and all other instructions take 1 cc. Then, we install special purpose hardware in Huevos that gives us perfect prediction of ninety percent (95%) of jump instructions, reducing their CPI to 1.
