Currently Slater Farms uses BumbleBar a co-packer who makes pies for Slaters retail line sold in stores across the U. S.. BumbleBar charges $4 to make each pie and they make about 200,000 pies annually. Slater can buy a pie making machine line for $400,000 and make the pies at their own factory for $3.50 each. Can Slater save money doing this? If so how much? Also about how long would it take Slater to get a pay-back return on the investment (ROI) in buying the pie making machine?
