Explanation:

At layer 3 of the OSI model is the network layer which is the layer between the datalink layer(below it) and the transport layer(above it). It is mainly responsible for:

i. forwarding data in the form of packets withing a network and;

ii. routing i.e moving packets from one host(device) to another across networks.
