univariate/multivariate analysis

use the attached salariesindiananewyork. xls file and compare the total employment and salary for various jobs in the state of indiana and new york. you can compare in any way you like as long as the following requirements are met. your analysis and conclusion must make sense, e. g. it does not make sense to draw a conclusion that the average hourly salary in indiana is smaller than the average yearly salary in new york.

requirements and rubrics

1. perform at least 3 descriptive statistics. you can use excel functions. explain the purpose of your analysis and your conclusion. for instance, you can compare the average yearly salary of indiana and average yearly salary of new york, and see which state is higher, or you can compare average hourly salary in computer/math fields f (25’)
2. create one or two frequency tables. determine a reasonable bin size. you can use the countifs() function to have excel do the counting according to a criteria. e. g. =countifs(b2: b87, "> 8.07", b2: b87, "< =21.45") will count within b2 and b87 range, how many data are > 8.07 and < =21.45. explain your findings from the frequency table. (20’)
3. perform at least 1 multivariate analysis. explain the purpose of your analysis and your conclusion. (20’)
4. give a summary of your comparison between the two states, any additional findings you have or any additional analysis you would like to perform. (20’)
5. create a separate sheet to perform your analysis and present your result. label each step (1 – 4 above). (10’)
6. your project file name should be in the format of lastname_project4.xlsx. (5’)
