(b) if the switch is a packet switch, how fast must the output link operate to guarantee that packet overflows will never take place?
(c) assume the switch is a store-and-forward packet switch, and the two arrival processes are "bursty". more precisely, packets arrive in bursts of back-to-back packets. all packets are of length p bits. there are b packets in a burst, and a gap of i seconds between bursts. if we know nothing about the relative phase of the two arrival processes, find the minimum service rate that will ensure a stable queue (an unstable queue is one which grows without bounds)? for this minimum service rate, what is the minimum length buffer needed to prevent overflows?
